Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently package a variety of food items, including salads, entrees, desserts, and snacks, according to specific catering orders and company standards.
- Ensure accurate labeling and dating of all packaged products.
- Perform quality checks on products before and after packaging to ensure freshness, presentation, and adherence to recipes.
- Operate and maintain packaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety guidelines, hygiene standards (HACCP, provincial regulations), and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including regular cleaning of workstations and equipment.
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as receiving, stocking, and rotating ingredients and packaging supplies.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of orders.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, product quality issues, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Lift and move packages and ingredients as required, adhering to safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in packaging and labeling.
- Ability to work efficiently and meticulously in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (e.g., 3-6 months) in food packaging, production, or a related food service role.
- Food Handler's Certificate from a recognized authority (e.g., Toronto Public Health).
- Familiarity with catering operations and specific packaging requirements.
- Ability to read and understand production schedules and order forms.
