Stagecoach North Scotland is seeking a dedicated Fleet Supervisor – Vehicle Tracking to join our dynamic team in Bucksburn, Aberdeen. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in optimising the efficiency, safety, and performance of our extensive fleet through advanced vehicle tracking systems. As a Fleet Supervisor, you will be at the heart of our daily operations, monitoring our fleet in real-time, analysing data to identify trends, and implementing strategies for continuous improvement. This isn’t just about watching screens; it’s about empowering our drivers, collaborating with maintenance teams, and making data-driven decisions that enhance fuel efficiency, reduce downtime, and uphold our rigorous safety standards. You’ll manage the day-to-day use and effectiveness of our telematics systems, ensuring all data is accurately captured and utilised to inform operational adjustments. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily operation of our vehicle tracking (telematics) systems.
- Monitor fleet movements in real-time to ensure adherence to routes, schedules, and operational procedures.
- Analyse vehicle tracking data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for performance improvement (e.g., fuel consumption, idle time, speeding).
- Generate comprehensive reports on fleet performance, driver behaviour, and operational metrics for management review.
- Liaise with drivers to provide constructive feedback, coaching, and support based on tracking data to improve safety and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department to coordinate vehicle servicing and repairs, using tracking data to anticipate needs and minimise downtime.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant transport regulations, company policies, and health & safety standards.
- Assist in incident investigation and resolution by providing accurate tracking data and reports.
- Provide training and support to new and existing staff on the effective use of vehicle tracking technology.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of fleet operations through innovation and best practice implementation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in a fleet supervisory or similar role, preferably within a transport or logistics environment.
- Demonstrable experience with vehicle tracking systems (telematics) and data analysis.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfortable with IT systems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with drivers, management, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification in transport management or logistics.
- Experience with specific telematics platforms used in large-scale fleet operations.
- HGV/PCV licence is an advantage but not essential.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience in the public transport sector.
