Are you an experienced and highly skilled Class 1 HGV Driver looking for an immediate start within the Birmingham area? Fowler Welch is actively seeking dedicated and meticulous Flatbed Truck Drivers to join our dynamic and expanding team. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate Class 1 HGV Flatbed vehicles for the transportation of goods.
  • Ensure all loads are meticulously secured using appropriate strapping, chaining, and sheeting techniques, adhering to industry best practices and legal requirements.
  • Conduct thorough pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance issues promptly and accurately.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, driver hour regulations (EU Working Time Directive/WTD), and company safety policies.
  • Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
  • Maintain accurate records, including delivery paperwork, logbooks, and digital tachograph data.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Represent Fowler Welch professionally at all times while on the road and at customer sites.
  • Assist with loading and unloading as required, ensuring goods are handled with care.

Required Skills

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph card with extensive experience in its operation.
  • Proven experience as a Flatbed Truck Driver, including expert knowledge of load securement techniques.
  • Strong understanding of road safety regulations, WTD, and transport legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical fitness to perform duties including strapping and sheeting.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various types of flatbed trailers and specialized cargo.
  • ADR (Dangerous Goods) certification.
  • Moffett or Forklift truck operating certification.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced logistics and supply chain environment.
