Job Description
Are you passionate about fresh seafood and dedicated to providing outstanding customer service? Shopper’s Fair in Savanna-la-Mar is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Fish Vendor to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves managing our seafood counter, ensuring the highest standards of product quality, presentation, and hygiene. As a Fish Vendor, you will be the face of our seafood department, engaging directly with customers, offering expert advice, and ensuring they leave with exactly what they need for a delicious meal.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and display a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood products according to company standards.
- Assist customers with product selection, providing information on types of fish, cooking methods, and storage.
- Execute professional cuts, scaling, gutting, and filleting of fish as per customer requests.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards at the seafood counter, equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor and manage seafood inventory, ensuring freshness, minimal waste, and proper stock rotation.
- Receive and inspect incoming seafood deliveries for quality and quantity.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as scales, knives, and refrigeration units safely.
- Process customer transactions accurately, including weighing products and handling payments.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and health regulations, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and provide support to other departments as needed.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic arithmetic skills for weighing, pricing, and handling transactions.
- Knowledge of various types of fish and seafood.
- Strong commitment to food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a cold environment.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for product quality.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) working as a fishmonger, seafood clerk, or in a similar fresh food retail role.
- Food Handler's Permit or certification in food safety.
- Proficiency in various fish preparation techniques (scaling, gutting, filleting).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
