Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain various types of fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, according to design specifications and industry standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications to ensure accurate installation.
  • Cut, thread, groove, and join pipes, fittings, and hangers using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Inspect, test, and troubleshoot sprinkler systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades personnel.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures on-site.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including work reports, timesheets, and safety checklists.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional demeanor on client premises.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated with industry advancements and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services (Fire Sprinkler Systems) or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant British Standards (e.g., BS 9251, BS EN 12845) and industry regulations.
  • Proficiency in cutting, threading, grooving, and joining various pipe materials (steel, copper, plastic).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic calculations and system components.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CSCS card (blue or gold skill card).
  • IPAF or PASMA certification.
  • Experience with various fire suppression technologies beyond sprinklers (e.g., mist, gas).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
