Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our dynamic team in Richmond, British Columbia. This critical role will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and contributing significantly to the strategic financial planning of Nature’s Path. As a key leader within our finance department, you will manage a dedicated team, implement best practices, and maintain robust internal controls. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS, exceptional analytical capabilities, and a proven track record in a manufacturing or CPG environment. You will play a pivotal role in budget management, forecasting, and driving financial performance, directly impacting our ability to continue our mission of providing healthy, organic foods while adhering to our sustainability commitments. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, driving insights and accountability.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • CPA designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership/controller role.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian GAAP/IFRS.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, preferably with organic products.
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidation.
  • Proven track record of process improvement and system implementation.
  • Knowledge of taxation regulations in British Columbia and Canada.
