Interior Savings Credit Union is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Compliance Reviewer to join our dynamic team in Kamloops, British Columbia. As a Financial Compliance Reviewer, you will play a vital part in protecting both our members and our organization from financial risks by identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential compliance gaps. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and impartial reviews of financial transactions, processes, and internal controls to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations, including but not limited to PCMLTFA, FATCA, OFAC, OSFI guidelines, and consumer protection laws.
- Identify potential compliance risks, deficiencies, and areas for improvement within existing operational procedures and recommend effective remediation strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate compliance review reports, detailing findings, recommendations, and evidence of corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., operations, lending, wealth management) to provide guidance on regulatory requirements and facilitate the implementation of compliance-related policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development, review, and revision of internal compliance policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Monitor changes in regulatory landscapes and assess their potential impact on credit union operations, communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations related to compliance activities.
- Contribute to fostering a strong culture of compliance awareness and ethical conduct throughout the organization.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a compliance, audit, risk management, or financial review role within the financial services industry.
- Solid understanding of Canadian financial regulations (e.g., AML/ATF, consumer protection, privacy laws, OSFI guidelines).
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business operations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing clear, concise reports and presenting findings effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CRCM, CPA, CFA).
- Experience working specifically within a credit union environment.
- Familiarity with compliance software and database systems.
- Advanced data analysis skills and experience with reporting tools.
