This unique opportunity allows you to leverage your expertise in financial analysis to support our broader organizational goals, with a particular focus on understanding and contributing to our strategies pertaining to the Canadian market from a U.S. base. You will play a crucial role in shaping financial decision-making for a leading retailer, working within a collaborative environment that values innovation, strategic insight, and robust analytical capabilities.

In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support key business units across Nordstrom. Your work will directly impact strategic planning, annual budgeting cycles, quarterly forecasting, and performance management, all contributing to Nordstrom’s continued growth and profitability. You’ll gain exposure to diverse aspects of retail finance, from merchandising and supply chain optimization to digital operations and customer experience strategies. We are looking for an individual who can not only efficiently process and analyze complex financial data but also translate those findings into actionable business insights. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to drive process improvements, develop sophisticated financial models, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the evolving retail landscape, eager to make a significant impact, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, contributing to a team that bridges U.S. talent with Canadian operational support and strategic oversight.

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability assessments, providing insights to business leaders.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior management and key stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators and strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with various departments (e.g., Merchandising, Marketing, Operations) to gather data, understand business drivers, and ensure alignment on financial goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance function.
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects, providing financial expertise and analytical support.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly business reviews and annual operating plans.
  • Monitor economic and industry trends impacting the retail sector, particularly those affecting cross-border operations between the U.S. and Canada.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, or a related analytical role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial statements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MBA, MS Finance) or professional certification (CFA, CPA).
  • Experience with financial planning software (e.g., Hyperion, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights).
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience in the retail industry or cross-border financial operations.
  • Familiarity with Canadian financial regulations and market dynamics.

Perks & Benefits

  • 401(k) plan with company matching contributions.
  • Generous employee discount on Nordstrom merchandise.
  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
