Job Description
As a Finance Officer at Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and operational integrity of our organization. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation and management of the annual budget, performing variance analysis and providing insights to department heads.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal and state financial regulations, including NCUA and other relevant bodies.
- Manage general ledger accounts, journal entries, and reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring efficient processing and accurate record-keeping.
- Support external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries promptly and effectively.
- Develop and implement robust financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and operational efficiency.
- Assist with asset/liability management and investment portfolio analysis to optimize financial performance.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management to contribute to organizational goals.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis (3+ years).
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear financial articulation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic hybrid environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA.
- Experience working in a credit union or banking environment.
- Familiarity with financial reporting software specific to credit unions (e.g., Fiserv, Symitar).
- Master's degree in Finance or Business Administration.
