Job Description

Absa Bank Mozambique is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager (Gestor Financeiro) to join our esteemed finance department in Maputo. This critical role demands an individual with a strong analytical mindset, profound financial expertise, and exceptional leadership qualities to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will be instrumental in overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to both local and international financial standards. You will be expected to provide insightful financial analysis, manage financial risks, and collaborate closely with various business units to support the bank’s objectives. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for Absa Bank Mozambique.
  • Prepare and present accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with all local financial regulations (Bank of Mozambique) and international accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, identifying trends, variances, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decisions.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and capital requirements to optimize financial resources.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process effectively.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to other departments and business units.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing strategies to ensure financial stability.

Required Skills

  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken)
  • Proven experience in financial management, particularly within the banking or financial services sector
  • Strong understanding of Mozambican financial regulations and IFRS
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials)
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA (Mozambique or equivalent)
  • Experience with financial risk management and treasury operations
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving efficiency in finance functions
  • Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives in finance
