Job Description

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned financial leader to step into the critical role of Finance Director at Spark NZ, even if you’re looking for a position that offers significant training and development to bridge any specific industry knowledge gaps. We understand that top-tier financial acumen is transferable, and we are committed to investing in the right candidate to ensure their success within our dynamic telecommunications and digital services environment.

As our Finance Director, you will be instrumental in shaping the financial strategy and performance of one of New Zealand’s most iconic and essential companies. You will lead a high-performing finance team, providing strategic financial guidance to the executive leadership and board, driving robust financial planning, analysis, and reporting. Your expertise will directly influence investment decisions, capital allocation, risk management, and overall fiscal health, ensuring Spark NZ continues to deliver sustainable growth and value to its shareholders and customers.

We are specifically looking for a leader with a strong track record in complex financial management, who possesses the strategic foresight to navigate a rapidly evolving digital landscape. While prior experience in telecommunications or technology is a plus, it is *not* a prerequisite. We offer a comprehensive, tailored training programme designed to familiarise you with the nuances of our industry, our operational models, and our specific regulatory environment. This includes mentorship from senior executives, targeted workshops, and access to industry-specific knowledge resources, ensuring you are fully equipped to excel and make a significant impact from day one.

You will be a key player in financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning, translating strategic objectives into actionable financial plans. Your role involves overseeing compliance with all financial regulations and reporting standards, managing external audits, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes and controls. This position demands a blend of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and strong leadership, all within a collaborative and innovative culture. If you are a transformative finance professional ready for a significant challenge and committed to continuous learning, we encourage you to apply.
