Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Associate to join our growing finance team, specifically tailored for remote collaboration. In this critical role, you will play an integral part in supporting Workiva’s financial operations, contributing to accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and efficient processes. As a Finance Associate, you will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity of our financial data, preparing various financial statements and reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and providing robust analytical support to senior finance leaders. This position requires a proactive individual who excels in a distributed team environment, leveraging digital tools and clear communication to foster seamless collaboration. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and ad-hoc reporting to support business decision-making.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by collecting data, preparing schedules, and assisting with model development.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Product Development, to gather financial data and provide analytical support.
- Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of best practices within the finance department.
- Utilize financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to manage data and generate reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Present financial findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to both finance and non-finance stakeholders, effectively communicating virtually.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially for virtual collaboration.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle).
Preferred Qualifications
- Progress towards a CPA or CFA certification.
- Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software or business intelligence tools.
- Familiarity with Workiva's Wdesk platform or similar cloud-based reporting solutions.
- Prior experience working in a SaaS company or the technology industry.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and processes quickly.
