Schneider Electric is urgently seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Gatineau, Quebec region. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be the face of Schneider Electric, providing essential on-site support for our diverse range of products and systems, including but not limited to power distribution, critical power, industrial automation, and building management systems.
Your primary focus will be on the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical and automation equipment. You will work independently and as part of a team, traveling to various customer sites within the Gatineau area and potentially broader Quebec region, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of our clients’ infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance on Schneider Electric products and systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues related to electrical distribution, automation, and critical power systems.
- Provide expert technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Conduct comprehensive site assessments and prepare detailed service reports, including recommended actions and follow-ups.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and company policies while working on customer premises.
- Manage spare parts inventory and service equipment effectively.
- Participate in technical training and development programs to stay updated on new products and technologies.
- Collaborate with internal sales, project management, and engineering teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Document all service activities accurately using internal systems and tools.
- Educate customers on proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in field service, maintenance, or technical support of electrical distribution or industrial automation systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and industrial networks.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong customer relationships.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken) is essential for this role in Quebec.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Schneider Electric products and solutions (e.g., EcoStruxure, Acti9, Masterpact, Modicon, Altivar).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility.
- Experience with critical power systems, UPS, or data center infrastructure.
- Certifications in relevant industry standards (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
