Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site commissioning, preventative maintenance, and corrective services on Schneider Electric electrical distribution products and critical power systems (e.g., circuit breakers, switchgear, protective relays, UPS, power monitoring equipment).
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, conducting thorough root cause analysis and implementing effective, long-term solutions to minimize customer downtime and operational disruptions.
- Conduct comprehensive equipment inspections, precise testing, and efficient system upgrades as per manufacturer specifications and stringent customer requirements.
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to customers, clearly explaining service procedures, operational requirements, and recommended solutions.
- Prepare detailed and accurate service reports, thoroughly outlining work performed, parts utilized, diagnostic findings, and providing actionable recommendations for future maintenance or system enhancements.
- Manage service tools, specialized test equipment, and spare parts inventory efficiently, ensuring availability and proper calibration.
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards during all field activities, promoting a culture of safety.
- Actively participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly to emergency service requests as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a strong sense of urgency.
- Collaborate effectively with sales, project management, and engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution, exceptional customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
- Continuously update technical knowledge and skills on new products, emerging technologies, and evolving service procedures through self-study and formal training.
- Document all service activities accurately in the designated service management system.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Field Service Engineer or similar role in the electrical distribution, industrial automation, or critical power systems sector.
- Strong foundational knowledge of electrical power systems, including but not limited to switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, transformers, and UPS systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and comprehensive technical manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and root cause analysis abilities to resolve intricate technical problems effectively.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic field environment.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential for travel to customer sites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and communication.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification (e.g., Industrial Electrician, Master Electrician) or a Bachelor's degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Direct experience with Schneider Electric products and software solutions (e.g., EcoStruxure, Power Monitoring Expert).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., CSA, IEEE, NFPA, ESA).
- Safety certifications such as Arc Flash training, Lockout/Tagout, and confined space entry.
- Experience with power quality analysis and energy management systems.
- Fluency in French is an asset for supporting diverse clientele.
