Job Description

TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Field Operator to join our dynamic team in Yangoji, Abuja. This pivotal role involves the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our field facilities, primarily focusing on fuel storage, distribution, and equipment maintenance within our service station network or depot facilities in the Yangoji area. As a Field Operator, you will be on the front lines, ensuring that all operational procedures adhere strictly to TotalEnergies’ rigorous safety standards, environmental guidelines, and operational protocols. Your responsibilities will extend beyond routine operations to include proactive monitoring of equipment performance, conducting first-line maintenance, and identifying potential issues before they escalate. You will be instrumental in the precise loading and offloading of petroleum products, maintaining meticulous inventory records, and ensuring the quality of our products. This role demands a high level of vigilance, technical aptitude, and a strong commitment to teamwork. You will collaborate closely with various teams, including maintenance, logistics, and safety, to optimize operational efficiency and minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor field equipment, pumps, valves, and other related machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct routine checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance on field equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify potential faults.
  • Perform safe loading and offloading of petroleum products, adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of product inventory, transfer volumes, and operational parameters.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and operational disturbances, troubleshooting minor issues and escalating complex problems to supervisors.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety drills, emergency response procedures, and incident investigations.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and logistics teams to coordinate repairs, scheduled shutdowns, and product movements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the operational area and equipment.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of junior operators or new team members as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related technical field.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in field operations within the oil and gas industry, preferably in downstream operations or a similar industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of petroleum product handling, storage, and transfer procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial safety practices and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, P&IDs, and operational schematics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions and demanding environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Certification in relevant safety courses (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
  • First aid and fire fighting certification.
  • Familiarity with TotalEnergies' specific operational technologies and systems.
