Job Description
As a Field Extension Officer at Notore, you will serve as the invaluable direct link between our innovative agricultural solutions and the vibrant farming communities we proudly serve in and around Onne Port, Port Harcourt, and the wider Rivers State. This pivotal role involves providing hands-on support, expert advice, and comprehensive training to farmers on optimal fertilizer usage, implementing improved farming techniques, and adopting sustainable agricultural practices. You will be instrumental in conducting essential farm visits, organizing impactful outreach programs, and meticulously demonstrating the practical application of our premium products to ensure maximum yield and enhanced profitability for local farmers. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough farm visits to assess farmers' specific needs, provide tailored technical advice, and diligently monitor crop health and optimal fertilizer application.
- Organize and expertly deliver engaging training sessions, practical workshops, and impactful field demonstrations for farmers on optimal fertilizer usage, comprehensive crop management, and modern, efficient farming techniques.
- Educate farmers comprehensively on Notore's diverse product portfolio, ensuring they fully understand the multifaceted benefits and the correct, effective application methods for each product.
- Collect and meticulously analyze field data on crop performance, prevailing soil conditions, and valuable farmer feedback to inform strategic product development and continuous service improvement.
- Establish and painstakingly maintain strong, trust-based relationships with individual farmers, local agricultural cooperatives, influential community leaders, and relevant government agencies.
- Identify potential market opportunities and proactively address challenges prevalent within the farming communities, reporting insightful findings to the sales and marketing teams for strategic planning.
- Assist farmers in effectively troubleshooting a wide array of crop-related issues and offer practical, sustainable, and economically viable solutions.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports on all field activities, training outcomes, and farmer engagements, ensuring transparent communication.
- Promote the widespread adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, placing a strong emphasis on environmental protection and efficient resource management.
- Collaborate seamlessly with internal teams, including sales, marketing, and R&D, to strategically align field activities with broader company objectives and goals.
Required Skills
- Strong foundational knowledge of agronomy, crop science, soil science, and agricultural extension principles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the innate ability to convey complex agricultural information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in local languages relevant to the farming communities in Rivers State (e.g., Ikwerre, Kalabari, Okrika) is a highly advantageous asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team, often in challenging field conditions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, capable of developing practical solutions.
