As a Seasonal Farm Worker, you will be an integral part of our small, dynamic team, engaging in all aspects of crop production on our urban farm. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare soil beds, including tilling, amending, and forming rows.
  • Plant seeds and seedlings according to precise spacing and timing guidelines.
  • Perform diligent weeding, thinning, and pruning of various crops to ensure optimal growth.
  • Manage irrigation systems, including setting up drip lines and hand watering, to ensure adequate hydration.
  • Harvest a wide variety of vegetables and herbs, ensuring quality standards are met for market and distribution.
  • Wash, sort, pack, and prepare produce efficiently for market sales, CSA shares, and restaurant deliveries.
  • Monitor crops daily for signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies and report findings.
  • Assist with general farm maintenance, including fence repair, tool cleaning, and upkeep of farm infrastructure.
  • Operate hand tools and basic farm equipment safely and effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to all organic farming practices and food safety protocols.
  • Participate in farm beautification efforts and contribute to a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, sharing tasks and supporting collective goals.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions (sun, rain, heat, cold).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural principles or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Legal authorization to work in the USA for the seasonal period, or eligibility for seasonal visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (even informal) in farming, gardening, landscaping, or related outdoor work.
  • Knowledge of organic or sustainable farming methods.
  • Experience operating basic farm hand tools (e.g., hoes, shovels, wheelbarrows).
