As a Farm Manager (in training), you will work closely with experienced agricultural experts and senior management, learning every facet of farm operations from planting to harvest, quality control, and export preparation. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in a structured training program covering all aspects of large-scale horticultural farm management.
  • Learn and apply best practices in crop cultivation, irrigation, pest and disease management, and nutrient scheduling.
  • Assist in supervising daily farm operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Shadow senior farm managers to understand strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Contribute to the implementation of sustainable farming techniques and environmental conservation initiatives.
  • Monitor crop health and progress, collecting data for analysis and reporting.
  • Learn to operate and maintain various farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support the management of farm staff, including scheduling, training, and performance monitoring under supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, export regulations, and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of practical experience in an agricultural setting (farm, research station, or agribusiness).
  • Strong passion for agriculture and a genuine interest in farm management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to work in a demanding outdoor environment and adapt to varying weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Fluency in Amharic and English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with horticultural crops (fruits and vegetables) or large-scale commercial farming.
  • Knowledge of modern irrigation systems (drip irrigation) and protected cultivation techniques.
  • Familiarity with agricultural software or data management systems.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role, even in a non-agricultural context.
