This crucial role involves supporting the efficient operation and upkeep of various Council properties and public spaces across the borough. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine daily checks and minor repairs across various Council buildings, including plumbing, carpentry, and general fabric maintenance.
  • Assist senior maintenance technicians with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive repair tasks.
  • Ensure all facilities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, identifying and reporting any potential hazards.
  • Manage and maintain stock levels of tools, equipment, and consumables, ensuring availability for maintenance tasks.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related requests and issues, providing excellent service to building occupants and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or services, ensuring work is completed to required standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using the designated facilities management system.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a similar facilities support or maintenance role, preferably within a commercial or public building setting.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to facilities management.
  • Demonstrable practical skills in general maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for travel between sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Building Maintenance or a related trade).
  • Experience with facilities management software or CAFM systems.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Basic IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite.
