Job Description
ExxonMobil is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Coordinator to join our team in Enfield, Connecticut. This pivotal role is essential in upholding our paramount commitment to Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) across all operations. As a Safety Coordinator, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring robust safety programs and policies that not only comply with local, state, and federal regulations but also exceed industry best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and procedures in alignment with ExxonMobil standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with all SSHE policies.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Facilitate and deliver engaging safety training programs to employees and contractors on various topics, including hazard communication, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all required safety documentation, permits, and records are accurately maintained and readily accessible.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and provide expert guidance to management and employees.
- Collaborate with operational teams to integrate safety considerations into all planning and execution phases of projects and daily activities.
- Stay current with evolving safety regulations, industry best practices, and new technologies to continually enhance our safety protocols.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response plans.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an occupational safety role, preferably within an industrial or energy sector environment.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, and other relevant federal, state, and local safety standards.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying issues and developing practical solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence and fostering a positive safety culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry/Construction.
- Experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Familiarity with Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs.
- Experience with environmental management systems (EMS) and quality management systems (QMS).
