Job Description
ExxonMobil is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Petroleum Engineer to join our dynamic team in Norwich, Connecticut. While our primary field operations are globally dispersed, this role is crucial for regional support, technical analysis, and strategic planning related to various projects and initiatives that impact our broader operations. As a Petroleum Engineer, you will be instrumental in optimizing hydrocarbon recovery, enhancing operational efficiency, and contributing to the technical integrity of our assets. Key Responsibilities
- Perform reservoir engineering studies, including decline curve analysis, material balance, and numerical simulation.
- Develop and optimize well completion and workover designs, ensuring alignment with reservoir management strategies.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, diagnose well performance issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development of field development plans and economic evaluations of new projects and interventions.
- Collaborate with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and operations teams to integrate subsurface and surface designs.
- Monitor and evaluate enhanced oil recovery (EOR) opportunities and implement pilot projects.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with company safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and participate in peer reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in petroleum engineering roles within the oil and gas industry.
- Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, CMG, Petrel RE).
- Strong understanding of fluid flow in porous media, wellbore hydraulics, and production logging.
- Demonstrated ability to perform economic analysis and risk assessment for oil and gas projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with unconventional resources and advanced stimulation techniques.
- Familiarity with production optimization software and data analytics platforms.
- Project management experience, including planning, execution, and close-out.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
