Job Description
Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician to join our dynamic project team in the Central Area, Abuja. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures on construction sites.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly.
- Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with local and national electrical codes (e.g., Nigerian Electrical Safety Standards).
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions.
- Supervise and mentor junior electricians and apprentices on site.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Prepare material requisitions and keep accurate records of work performed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a certified Electrician, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, conduits, and panels.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, including lifting and working in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III in Electrical Installation.
- OND or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial electrical projects.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of temporary power distribution systems on construction sites.
