Job Description
Are you a highly creative and hands-on individual with a passion for transforming spaces into magical environments? Elegant Touch Events is seeking a talented and experienced Event Decorator – Design & Setup Specialist to join our growing team in Port Harcourt. This pivotal role involves leading the conceptualization, design, and physical setup of event decor for a diverse range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, birthdays, and social gatherings. You will be instrumental in translating client ideas and briefs into tangible, stunning visual realities. From initial concept sketches and mood boards to selecting fabrics, floral arrangements, lighting, and furniture, you will manage all decorative elements. This position demands a keen eye for aesthetics, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients and event planners to understand their vision, themes, and budgetary requirements.
- Develop innovative and cohesive decor concepts, including mood boards, sketches, and detailed design plans.
- Source and select appropriate decorative elements such as flowers, linens, lighting, furniture, props, and signage.
- Manage inventory of decor items, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
- Oversee and actively participate in the physical setup and installation of all decor elements at various event venues.
- Coordinate with vendors, florists, and other suppliers to ensure timely delivery and setup of materials.
- Ensure all decor installations meet safety standards and aesthetic expectations.
- Supervise junior decorators and setup crew during installation and dismantling.
- Execute efficient and careful dismantling and packing of decor items post-event.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, new materials, and design techniques.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support throughout the design and execution process.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Event Decorator or similar role, with a strong portfolio.
- Exceptional creativity and an eye for design, color, and aesthetics.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva, Photoshop) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of various decor styles, materials, and trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy decor items as required.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to unforeseen challenges during setup.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various event locations within Port Harcourt.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Fine Arts, Interior Design, Event Management, or a related field.
- Certification in Event Design or Floral Arrangement.
- Experience with CAD software or 3D rendering for event layouts.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience in event setup.
- Established network of local vendors and suppliers in Port Harcourt.
