Job Description

Save the Children International is seeking dedicated and meticulous Enumerators to join our team in Tshikapa, Kasaï Province, for an upcoming household survey project. This vital role involves collecting high-quality data directly from households, which is crucial for informing our programs and advocating for children’s rights. As an Enumerator, you will be on the front lines, interacting with community members, administering questionnaires, and accurately recording responses using digital data collection tools (e.g., tablets). Your work will directly contribute to understanding the needs and challenges faced by children and their families, enabling us to design and implement more effective interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all Enumerator training sessions to understand the project objectives, methodology, and data collection tools.
- Conduct household interviews with selected respondents in the designated areas of Tshikapa, Kasaï Province, following established protocols and ethical guidelines.
- Administer questionnaires clearly and accurately, ensuring all questions are asked as written and responses are recorded truthfully and completely.
- Utilize digital data collection tools (e.g., ODK, KoboToolbox on tablets) efficiently and effectively, managing the device and survey application.
- Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of all collected information and the anonymity of respondents.
- Build rapport and trust with community members and respondents, explaining the purpose of the survey in a clear and respectful manner.
- Review collected data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy at the end of each interview and daily, making necessary corrections.
- Report any challenges, difficulties, or sensitive situations encountered during data collection to the Field Supervisor promptly.
- Adhere strictly to Save the Children's Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct at all times.
- Maintain professional conduct and respect cultural norms and practices within the communities.
Required Skills
- Fluency in French and Tshiluba (local language of Kasaï Province) is essential, both written and verbal.
- Proven experience in data collection, especially household surveys or censuses.
- Ability to use Android-based tablets or smartphones for data entry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse populations.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging field environments.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Statistics, or a related field.
- Prior experience working with international NGOs or research organizations.
- Familiarity with the geographical and socio-cultural context of Tshikapa, Kasaï Province.
- Experience with KoboToolbox or ODK Collect platforms.
