Job Description
Enbridge is urgently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our vital operations team in Rockford, Illinois. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our pipeline and facility infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on pipeline facilities, pumps, motors, valves, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Execute equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades in accordance with engineering standards, blueprints, and rigorous safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, equipment performance data, and spare parts inventory using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA standards.
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule and respond promptly to emergency situations, including equipment breakdowns or pipeline incidents, to ensure continuous operational integrity and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate effectively with operations personnel, engineers, and other technicians to optimize facility performance, resolve complex technical problems, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices during all maintenance and repair activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (3+ years) in industrial mechanical and/or electrical maintenance within a heavy industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid power systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, technical drawings, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.
- Competency with a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges).
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex system failures.
- Solid understanding of industrial safety practices, Lockout/Tagout procedures, confined space entry, and permit-to-work systems.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry, report generation, and navigating CMMS or similar software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a closely related field.
- Experience with pipeline operations, natural gas compression, petroleum refining, or other similar heavy industrial environments.
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
- Welding or pipefitting certification and experience.
- Current relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR).
- Experience with vibration analysis, motor control centers, and variable frequency drives.
