Job Description

Enbridge is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Inspector for an immediate start in Des Plaines, Illinois. This critical role is essential to maintaining the integrity and safety of our extensive pipeline infrastructure. As a Field Inspector, you will be on the front lines, ensuring all construction, maintenance, and operational activities comply with Enbridge’s stringent safety standards, industry regulations, and environmental protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough on-site inspections of pipeline construction, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure compliance with Enbridge specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance, quality of work, and adherence to project schedules.
  • Document inspection findings, including deviations, corrective actions, and progress reports, utilizing various digital tools and platforms.
  • Verify the correct use of materials, equipment, and construction techniques.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, procedures, and environmental protection plans on every job site.
  • Participate in daily tailgate meetings, safety briefings, and incident investigations as required.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and local stakeholders regarding project status and potential issues.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
  • Assist in the resolution of field-related problems and non-conformances.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field crews regarding regulatory and company standards.
  • Perform post-construction inspections and handover documentation reviews.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pipeline construction, maintenance, or inspection within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline integrity management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory codes (e.g., DOT, API, CSA).
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a dynamic field environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and digital inspection tools/software.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the assigned region and work in various weather conditions.
  • Commitment to Enbridge's safety culture and policies.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., API 1169, NACE, AWS CWI, OSHA 30).
  • Experience with GIS and mapping software.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations pertinent to pipeline operations.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
