Job Description
Enbridge is seeking a highly vigilant, skilled, and detail-oriented Control Room Operator to join our critical operations team in Palatine, Illinois. In this pivotal on-site role, you will be directly responsible for the safe and efficient monitoring and control of our complex pipeline systems. Utilizing state-of-the-art SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, you will continuously observe and analyze pipeline pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and other critical operational parameters. Your daily responsibilities will include ensuring strict compliance with all safety protocols, operational procedures, and regulatory standards. This position demands an exceptional level of attention to detail, the ability to make swift and sound decisions under pressure, and superior communication skills to coordinate effectively with field personnel, engineers, and emergency response teams. You will serve as the primary point of contact for identifying, evaluating, and responding to abnormal operating conditions or potential incidents, implementing emergency shutdown procedures when necessary, and diligently coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders to maintain pipeline integrity and overall system reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor SCADA systems for pipeline operational parameters, including pressure, temperature, and flow rates.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and emergency situations.
- Implement emergency shutdown procedures and coordinate with field crews for incident response.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, records, and incident reports as per company and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with field personnel, supervisors, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding pipeline status and operational changes.
- Perform routine checks and tests of control room equipment and systems to ensure functionality.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in control room operations, pipeline operations, or a similar industrial environment.
- Proficiency with SCADA systems and other process control technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-stakes environment.
- A keen eye for detail and exceptional situational awareness.
- Ability to comprehend and apply complex operational procedures and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Engineering Technology, Process Control).
