Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and exceptionally dedicated Electrician with a strong specialization in house wiring to join our esteemed team based in Mwene-Ditu, Lomami Province. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive installation, meticulous maintenance, and expert repair of electrical systems specifically within residential and light commercial buildings. A critical aspect of this position is ensuring all work is executed with unwavering adherence to national electrical codes, stringent safety standards, and EGMF’s rigorous internal quality assurance protocols. The successful candidate will be entrusted with interpreting complex blueprints and technical specifications, undertaking the precise installation of new wiring systems, expertly troubleshooting electrical faults, and performing systematic regular maintenance to unequivocally guarantee the safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability of all electrical installations.
You will operate both independently on specific tasks and collaboratively with other essential tradespeople, including plumbers, carpenters, and general laborers, across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. Your direct contributions will be instrumental in the successful and timely completion of new residential constructions, comprehensive renovation projects, and various other essential facility upgrades situated within the Mwene-Ditu region. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential and light commercial settings, adhering to project timelines.
- Read and accurately interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to determine the precise layout and requirements for electrical equipment installations.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components thoroughly to identify potential hazards, defects, and the necessity for adjustment or repair, ensuring full compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical malfunctions, accurately diagnose underlying problems, and determine the most appropriate and effective solutions.
- Safely and correctly connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, switches, and other critical electrical components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on existing electrical systems and components to extend their lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
- Adhere strictly to all local and national electrical codes, stringent safety regulations, and established company policies and procedures at all times.
- Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of electrical supplies and tools, ensuring efficient use of materials and minimizing waste.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals such as builders, plumbers, and carpenters to ensure seamless project execution and coordination.
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate reports on work performed, materials used, time spent, and any issues or observations encountered during projects.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in residential electrical wiring and new installations.
- In-depth knowledge of national electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., RGIE/AREI or equivalent local regulations for DR Congo).
- Proficiency in safely and effectively using a wide range of electrical hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, circuit testers, insulation testers).
- Strong foundational understanding of electrical circuits, voltage, amperage, resistance, and Ohm's Law.
- Exceptional ability to read and accurately interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and construction blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve electrical issues.
- Unwavering commitment to workplace safety, including proper lockout/tagout procedures and use of PPE.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding work in various conditions (e.g., confined spaces, heights, inclement weather).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training or a recognized technical diploma in Electrical Installation or a related field.
- Certification or licensing from a recognized national or provincial electrical trade body.
- Prior experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, particularly in a challenging environment.
- Proficiency in French (oral and written) is a significant advantage for communication on-site and with management.
- Experience with the installation or maintenance of renewable energy electrical systems (e.g., solar panel wiring, battery storage integration).
