Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on all electrical systems, machinery, and components within the facility.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical faults in industrial machinery, control systems (PLCs, VFDs, motor controls), and power distribution networks.
- Install, repair, and upgrade electrical equipment, wiring, and fixtures in accordance with relevant electrical codes and safety standards.
- Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, electrical codes, company policies, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and electrical parts inventory.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and other maintenance teams to optimize electrical system performance, reliability, and minimize downtime.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and on-the-job training to junior technicians or apprentices when required.
- Participate in the commissioning, testing, and decommissioning of new and existing electrical installations.
- Recommend and implement improvements for electrical systems to enhance efficiency, safety, and operational longevity.
Required Skills
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Technician in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Proven proficiency in troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems, including PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and motor control centers (MCCs).
- Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations, Lock-out/Tag-out procedures, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Solid experience with low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
- Exceptional diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., COREN, NIMechE, or other recognized electrical trade certifications).
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders and asset history.
- Experience with various types of sensors, actuators, instrumentation, and process automation systems.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies and predictive maintenance technologies.
