Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test electrical control systems, power distribution systems, and components for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., CSA, UL, IEC).
- Perform complex electrical calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate design concepts and optimize system performance and reliability.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and other engineering documentation using CAD software.
- Participate in product development lifecycle from concept to commissioning, including prototyping, debugging, and verification.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to integrate electrical designs seamlessly.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during development, testing, and field deployment phases, providing technical support as needed.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes to incorporate best practices into design and development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Ensure all designs adhere to Schneider Electric's quality standards and sustainability objectives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in electrical design and development.
- Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical).
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including circuit design, power systems, control systems, and electronics.
- Experience with industrial control panels, motor control centers, and protective relaying.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical safety codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA, IEC).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. (French is a significant asset).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Quebec or eligibility for registration.
- Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI development.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, CAN bus.
- Experience in energy management, renewable energy systems, or critical power applications (e.g., UPS, switchgear).
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
