Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Analyst to join our team in Rumuibekwe Estate, Port Harcourt. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring that Ecobank Nigeria adheres to all local and international regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards. The Compliance Analyst will play a pivotal role in maintaining the bank’s reputation for integrity and trustworthiness by supporting the implementation and monitoring of our robust compliance framework. Your work will involve analyzing regulatory changes, assessing risks, and providing expert advice to various business units. You will be instrumental in identifying potential compliance breaches, conducting investigations, and developing remedial actions. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a professional passionate about regulatory compliance and eager to contribute to a leading financial institution’s success and stability. You will be expected to stay abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape, especially concerning Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT), data protection, consumer protection, and other banking regulations in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret new and updated regulatory requirements relevant to Ecobank Nigeria's operations.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Conduct regular compliance reviews and risk assessments across various business units to identify potential areas of non-compliance.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to internal stakeholders on compliance matters, including product development, marketing, and operational processes.
  • Support the investigation of reported compliance breaches and suspicious activities, ensuring appropriate reporting and corrective actions are taken.
  • Prepare comprehensive compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in developing and delivering compliance training programs for employees to foster a strong compliance culture.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, as well as regulatory authorities, during examinations and inquiries.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the bank’s compliance monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Ensure adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a compliance role within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian financial regulations (e.g., CBN, NDIC, AMCON guidelines).
  • Proven knowledge of AML/CFT principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory texts and apply them to business operations.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in Compliance (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma).
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with regulatory technology (RegTech) solutions.
  • Familiarity with international compliance standards and best practices.
