Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Drone Operator to join our team in Gbadolite, Nord-Ubangi Province. This vital role involves capturing high-quality aerial footage for a variety of purposes, including project monitoring, site surveys, environmental assessments, and promotional content. The ideal candidate will possess not only exceptional drone piloting skills but also a keen eye for detail, strong technical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for the entire drone operation workflow, from flight planning and risk assessment to data acquisition, basic post-processing, and equipment maintenance. Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of drones (e.g., DJI Mavic, Phantom series, Matrice) for aerial photography and videography tasks.
- Plan and execute safe and efficient flight missions, including pre-flight checks, risk assessments, and adherence to all aviation regulations.
- Capture high-resolution still images and dynamic video footage according to project specifications and creative briefs.
- Conduct basic post-processing of captured imagery and video, including color correction, cropping, and segmenting, for immediate use.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of drone equipment, batteries, and accessories to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate flight logs, equipment records, and data archives.
- Ensure compliance with local and international drone operation laws and safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to understand specific footage requirements and deliver tailored visual content.
Required Skills
- Proficient in operating professional-grade drones (e.g., DJI series) with at least 2 years of practical experience.
- Demonstrable experience in capturing high-quality aerial photography and videography.
- Strong understanding of drone flight dynamics, navigation, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with drone flight planning software (e.g., DJI Go, Litchi, Pix4Dcapture).
- Basic knowledge of photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Premiere Pro).
- Ability to perform minor drone maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to varying field conditions.
- Proficiency in English and Lingala or Swahili (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified remote pilot license or equivalent certification from a recognized aviation authority.
- Experience with GIS software for mapping and data integration.
- Previous experience working in remote or challenging environments.
- Portfolio showcasing aerial photography and videography work.
- Ability to train junior operators on drone best practices and safety procedures.
