Job Description
Are you an experienced and highly skilled driver with a passion for punctuality and safe delivery? GIG Logistics is seeking a dedicated and responsible Driver to join our dynamic team in Lokogoma, Abuja. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods, packages, and parcels across specified routes within Abuja and occasionally to surrounding areas, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups. As a Driver for GIG Logistics, you will be the face of our company to many of our clients, requiring excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding our reputation for reliability.
Your day-to-day will involve conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, meticulously documenting all movements and deliveries, and maintaining your assigned vehicle in pristine condition. You will navigate various traffic conditions, adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, and handle merchandise with utmost care. This role demands a strong sense of responsibility, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to problem-solving on the road. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods, packages, and materials to designated locations.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all aspects are in good working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents encountered.
- Ensure timely delivery and pickup of items, adhering to scheduled routes and timelines.
- Assist with loading and unloading packages, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods to prevent damage.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Handle cash or electronic payments for deliveries when required, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy, performing minor maintenance tasks as needed.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents promptly to management.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E minimum)
- Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience
- Proven clean driving record with no major accidents or traffic violations
- Excellent knowledge of Abuja road networks and routes
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading and prolonged driving periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WAEC/NECO)
- Familiarity with logistics software or mobile delivery applications
- Previous experience in a logistics, courier, or transport company
- Defensive driving certification
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
