Job Description

Maclean Oil & Gas Logistics is seeking a professional and highly reliable Driver to join our dedicated transport and delivery team in Port Harcourt. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods, equipment, and personnel to various locations within Port Harcourt and across the wider Niger Delta region, often to challenging operational sites in the oil and gas sector. As a Driver, you will be an integral part of our logistics chain, ensuring that critical supplies reach their destinations on schedule and in perfect condition, adhering strictly to all company safety policies and local traffic regulations. Your responsibilities will extend beyond driving, encompassing routine vehicle inspections, minor maintenance checks, meticulous record-keeping, and ensuring the cleanliness and optimal functioning of your assigned vehicle. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport goods, equipment, and personnel to designated locations in accordance with company schedules and routes.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking fluid levels, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, delivery logs, and any incidents or mechanical issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and client-specific site regulations, especially those pertinent to oil and gas operations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of assigned vehicles, scheduling and coordinating minor repairs or servicing as needed.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of cargo as required, ensuring proper securing and handling of all transported items.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or any operational challenges.
  • Represent Maclean Oil & Gas Logistics professionally at all times, demonstrating excellent customer service and a positive attitude.
  • Navigate routes efficiently, utilizing GPS and local knowledge to minimize travel time and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or vehicle breakdowns immediately to the appropriate management personnel.

Required Skills

  • Valid Nigerian Class E or F driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in logistics, transport, or the oil and gas sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of Port Harcourt city roads and the wider Niger Delta region.
  • Excellent defensive driving skills and a strong commitment to road safety.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to read maps, use GPS navigation systems, and follow directions accurately.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to handle long driving hours and assist with loading/unloading.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SSCE/GCE or equivalent education.
  • Certification in Defensive Driving or Advanced Driver Training.
  • Experience driving heavy-duty vehicles or specialized transport equipment.
  • Familiarity with HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) standards in the oil and gas industry.
