As a Driver Helper, you will work alongside our experienced UPS Drivers, assisting them with package deliveries and collections. This is a physically demanding yet rewarding role, requiring you to navigate various routes, often on foot, and handle packages of varying sizes and weights. Key Responsibilities
- Assist UPS Drivers with the efficient and safe delivery and collection of packages along designated routes.
- Learn and accurately execute established delivery and collection procedures and methods.
- Handle packages with utmost care, ensuring their integrity from vehicle to customer's door.
- Provide exceptional customer service during all interactions at delivery and collection points.
- Work collaboratively with the driver to maintain strict delivery schedules and optimise route efficiency.
- Navigate diverse residential and commercial areas, often requiring extensive walking.
- Strictly adhere to all UPS safety guidelines and operational protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanour at all times, representing the UPS brand positively.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of packages from delivery vehicles as required.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and supervisors regarding daily progress, challenges, and customer feedback.
Required Skills
- Ability to frequently lift, lower, and carry packages weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg).
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven reliability and a strong work ethic, especially in a team setting.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, physically demanding outdoor environment.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions (rain, cold, heat).
- Legal right to work in the UK.
- A positive attitude and strong team player mentality.
