In this vital role, you will be the face of GIG Logistics on the road, responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods and parcels across Ikot Ekpene Junction and its environs. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles (vans, trucks) to pick up and deliver packages, parcels, and goods.
- Plan and execute delivery routes to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, optimizing for efficiency and traffic conditions.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and transportation regulations.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, damages, or maintenance needs promptly to the fleet management team.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including proof of delivery, mileage logs, fuel consumption, and any incidents encountered.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous attitude.
- Assist with loading and unloading packages, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Manage cash on delivery (COD) transactions accurately and reconcile daily.
- Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of the assigned company vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid Driver's License (Class E or equivalent)
- Proven safe driving record with no major violations
- Excellent knowledge of Uyo road networks and traffic regulations
- Strong navigation skills, including the use of GPS and mapping applications
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (tyre pressure, oil level)
- Good physical stamina to handle loading/unloading tasks
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong time management and organizational abilities
- High level of integrity and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience in a logistics or delivery role.
- Experience using mobile delivery applications or handheld devices.
- Defensive driving certification.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Ikot Ekpene Junction and surrounding areas for optimized routing.
