As our resident DJ, you will be the heartbeat of our entertainment, responsible for providing high-quality sound and an engaging atmosphere for various events, including regular evening sets, special themed nights, and private functions. Key Responsibilities
- Perform live DJ sets during scheduled operating hours and special events, adapting to various crowd demographics and energy levels.
- Curate diverse and engaging music selections that cater to the venue's sophisticated ambiance and target audience, adapting to different nights and themes.
- Operate and maintain professional audio equipment, including turntables, mixers, sound systems, and associated software, ensuring optimal performance.
- Ensure seamless transitions between tracks, maintain consistent audio quality, and manage appropriate volume levels throughout events.
- Engage with the audience, take appropriate requests, and create a welcoming, energetic, and positive atmosphere.
- Collaborate effectively with the management team and other staff to plan and execute themed nights, promotional events, and special performances.
- Monitor and troubleshoot minor sound equipment issues, performing basic repairs or escalating to technical support as needed to minimize disruptions.
- Maintain an extensive and up-to-date music library across various popular genres (e.g., Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, R&B, House, Highlife, Pop, Amapiano).
- Adhere strictly to all venue policies, including sound level regulations, operational guidelines, and safety protocols.
- Contribute positively to the overall professional image and reputation of Eddy's Wine Bar & Bistro.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of DJ equipment as required for various events.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a professional DJ in a hospitality or entertainment setting.
- Expertise in operating professional DJ equipment (CDJs, turntables, digital mixers, controllers, and relevant software).
- Extensive knowledge of various music genres, current trends, and the ability to seamlessly blend different styles.
- Exceptional mixing, scratching, beat-matching, and crowd-reading skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with guests and collaborating with staff.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong professional work ethic.
- Basic troubleshooting knowledge of audio equipment and sound systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- A portfolio or online demo mixes showcasing diverse talent and adaptability.
- Experience with basic lighting control systems to enhance performance.
