Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily order dispatch and delivery operations, ensuring all packages are handled with care and delivered efficiently.
- Plan and optimize delivery routes for maximum efficiency, considering factors like traffic, distance, and customer priority, to achieve cost-effectiveness and timely deliveries.
- Manage and monitor the distribution fleet, ensuring vehicles are well-maintained, schedules are adhered to, and timely departures and arrivals are met.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory levels, and delivery statuses using designated tracking systems and software.
- Collaborate effectively with customer service and other departments to address delivery inquiries, resolve logistical issues promptly, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and relevant transportation laws regarding the handling and transportation of goods.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and reconciliations to minimize discrepancies, prevent losses, and ensure accurate stock levels.
- Supervise, train, and mentor delivery personnel, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly distribution reports, providing valuable insights and performance analytics for management review.
- Implement and maintain quality control standards for packaging, loading, and delivery processes to safeguard the integrity of goods.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in logistics, supply chain, or distribution management.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of motivating a team and interacting professionally with customers.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to navigate operational challenges.
- In-depth knowledge of local geography and optimal routing in Calabar and surrounding areas.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and proven team management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics (e.g., CILT).
- Experience with GPS tracking and advanced route optimization tools.
- Familiarity with Nigerian transportation and customs regulations.
