Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Digital Rights Manager to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This critical role is integral to safeguarding and maximizing the value of Capitol Records’ extensive catalog of music and visual content in the digital realm. As a Digital Rights Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the identification, monetization, and protection of our intellectual property across diverse digital platforms, including YouTube, social media, and emerging content distribution channels. You will collaborate closely with legal, sales, marketing, and A&R teams to ensure comprehensive rights management strategies are implemented effectively. This position requires a keen understanding of digital content ecosystems, copyright law, metadata management, and data analysis to drive revenue and protect our artists’ work. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive digital rights management strategies for Capitol Records' audio and video content across all digital platforms.
  • Monitor, identify, and claim copyrighted content on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and other UGC (User-Generated Content) sites.
  • Optimize content identification and monetization through proprietary and third-party content management systems (e.g., Content ID).
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, revenue opportunities, and potential infringement risks.
  • Work closely with legal counsel on rights disputes, takedown notices, and licensing agreements.
  • Manage metadata and asset registration to ensure accurate rights attribution and monetization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (A&R, Marketing, Sales, Royalties) to align on content release schedules, promotional campaigns, and monetization goals.
  • Stay abreast of evolving digital rights technologies, platform policies, and copyright legislation.
  • Provide regular reports on revenue generation, content performance, and rights enforcement activities.
  • Educate internal stakeholders on best practices for digital rights protection and monetization.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in digital rights management, content monetization, or intellectual property protection within the music or entertainment industry.
  • Strong understanding of copyright law, particularly as it applies to digital content and platforms.
  • Proficiency with content identification systems (e.g., YouTube Content ID) and other digital rights management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Law, or a related field.
