Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty diesel trucks over assigned local, regional, or long-haul routes.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, equipment, and accessories.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured and compliant with weight distribution regulations.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and provincial/federal transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delays, incidents, or delivery issues.
- Perform minor emergency repairs on the road when necessary.
- Represent Armour Transportation Systems professionally at all times with clients and the public.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper handling.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1/A commercial driver's license (or equivalent) with air brake endorsement.
- Minimum 3 years (36 months) of verifiable commercial truck driving experience.
- Clean driving record and abstract.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with truck driving and freight handling.
- Strong understanding of hours-of-service regulations.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
- Excellent navigational skills and ability to read maps/GPS.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all company and regulatory standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of freight and equipment (e.g., dry van, refrigerated, flatbed).
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues.
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement.
- Forklift certification or experience.
