Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy-duty diesel trucks over assigned local, regional, or long-haul routes.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, equipment, and accessories.
  • Ensure cargo is properly secured and compliant with weight distribution regulations.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and provincial/federal transportation regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delays, incidents, or delivery issues.
  • Perform minor emergency repairs on the road when necessary.
  • Represent Armour Transportation Systems professionally at all times with clients and the public.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
  • Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper handling.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1/A commercial driver's license (or equivalent) with air brake endorsement.
  • Minimum 3 years (36 months) of verifiable commercial truck driving experience.
  • Clean driving record and abstract.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with truck driving and freight handling.
  • Strong understanding of hours-of-service regulations.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent navigational skills and ability to read maps/GPS.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all company and regulatory standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various types of freight and equipment (e.g., dry van, refrigerated, flatbed).
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues.
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement.
  • Forklift certification or experience.
