As a DHL Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of freight to and from various locations, including service centers, customer sites, and distribution hubs, within the San Francisco Bay Area and potentially beyond. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks (e.g., Class A or B vehicles) for local and regional transportation of freight.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, promptly documenting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Transport goods and materials to and from designated locations, including service centers, customer sites, and distribution hubs, ensuring timely delivery and pickup schedules are consistently met.
- Properly secure cargo for transit, adhering to all safety regulations, company policies, and weight distribution guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, fuel consumption, and other necessary logs and documentation.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local driving regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) hours of service rules.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and occasionally customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Handle and process all required paperwork accurately, including bills of lading, manifests, and delivery receipts.
- Report any incidents, accidents, delays, or mechanical issues promptly to appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, actively promoting a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Record) with no major infractions or accidents.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screen.
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks.
- Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations, safety procedures, and hours of service rules.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 70 lbs) when required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and customers.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement.
- Experience with various types of freight and delivery methods, including LTL and FTL.
- Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area road network and common routes.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Forklift operation certification (or willingness to obtain).
