Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, cosmetic, and surgical treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and materials are ready and sterilized according to strict guidelines.
- Maintain meticulous infection control standards, including instrument sterilization, surface disinfection, and waste management.
- Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
- Manage patient records, appointments, and general administrative duties as required.
- Order and maintain dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately and safely.
- Build rapport with patients, making them feel at ease and valued throughout their visit.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant, preferably in a private practice setting.
- GDC registration (General Dental Council, UK).
- Excellent knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology.
- Proficiency in dental radiography and digital imaging.
- Strong understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Proficiency with dental software (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally).
Preferred Qualifications
- National Diploma in Dental Nursing or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Experience with sedation assisting.
- First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Additional qualifications in dental specialisms (e.g., implant nursing, orthodontics).
- Fluency in Welsh is an advantage but not essential.
