Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, cosmetic, and surgical treatments.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and materials are ready and sterilized according to strict guidelines.
  • Maintain meticulous infection control standards, including instrument sterilization, surface disinfection, and waste management.
  • Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Manage patient records, appointments, and general administrative duties as required.
  • Order and maintain dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately and safely.
  • Build rapport with patients, making them feel at ease and valued throughout their visit.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant, preferably in a private practice setting.
  • GDC registration (General Dental Council, UK).
  • Excellent knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in dental radiography and digital imaging.
  • Strong understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Proficiency with dental software (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally).

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Diploma in Dental Nursing or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Experience with sedation assisting.
  • First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Additional qualifications in dental specialisms (e.g., implant nursing, orthodontics).
  • Fluency in Welsh is an advantage but not essential.
