Key Responsibilities
- Assist Delivery Drivers with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of furniture and home accessories onto and off delivery trucks.
- Navigate routes alongside drivers, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to customer homes across the Largo and greater Pinellas County area.
- Carefully move, assemble (if required), and place furniture items in customers’ homes according to their specifications, ensuring no damage to property or product.
- Provide exceptional customer service during every interaction, answering questions politely and addressing any immediate concerns with professionalism.
- Verify product integrity and accuracy against delivery manifests, reporting any discrepancies or damages immediately.
- Safely operate material handling equipment as needed, including dollies, hand trucks, and furniture straps.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the delivery truck and at the dispatch hub.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including those related to heavy lifting, driving safety, and customer interaction.
- Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections of delivery vehicles, ensuring all equipment is in working order.
- Work collaboratively with drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff to optimize delivery routes and resolve issues.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and career advancement opportunities within Rooms To Go.
- Represent Rooms To Go with integrity and a commitment to customer satisfaction at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy furniture (up to 75+ lbs regularly) with proper techniques and assistance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read manifests and follow instructions.
- Customer-focused attitude with a desire to provide excellent service.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and some holidays, as per retail delivery schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in delivery, moving, or a physically demanding role.
- Experience in customer service or a customer-facing role.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (though driving is not a primary duty, it is a plus).
