Key Responsibilities
- Operate a company delivery vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety standards.
- Efficiently sort, load, and unload packages from the delivery vehicle, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Plan and execute delivery routes, managing time effectively to meet scheduled delivery windows.
- Deliver packages to residential and commercial customers, obtaining signatures and handling cash/payments as required.
- Pick up packages from designated locations and transport them back to the UPS facility for sorting and shipment.
- Utilize handheld scanning devices to record delivery and pickup information accurately.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, addressing inquiries and resolving delivery issues.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation related to deliveries and vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both in the vehicle and at the facility.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license (G class or equivalent in NC) with a clean driving record for at least 12 months.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 pounds (32 kg) independently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions.
- Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Familiarity with the Charlotte, North Carolina metropolitan area.
- Experience operating a commercial vehicle (non-CDL).
