Knutsford Express is seeking a dedicated Delivery Driver to join our growing team in Ascot, Portmore. In this pivotal role, you will be the face of our company, responsible for the safe and efficient pickup and delivery of parcels, packages, and documents to our valued customers across the Portmore area and surrounding regions. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, small trucks) to deliver and collect parcels, documents, and other items within the assigned routes in Portmore and surrounding areas.
- Plan and execute daily delivery routes efficiently to meet scheduled deadlines and optimize fuel consumption and time management.
- Load and unload vehicles carefully, ensuring packages are secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify correct package identification, delivery addresses, and obtain appropriate signatures or proof of delivery.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and government regulations.
- Handle cash or digital payments as required, ensuring accuracy and proper record-keeping.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (preferably Group 2 or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience in a delivery or courier role.
- Excellent knowledge of Portmore and surrounding St. Catherine areas, including major routes and alternative paths.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional approach.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in logistics or transportation is a plus.
- Experience using GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Familiarity with handling cash transactions and electronic payment systems.
- Defensive driving certification.
