Key Responsibilities
- Operate a company delivery vehicle safely and efficiently to deliver and pick up packages in a timely manner.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on your assigned vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.
- Efficiently sort and load packages onto the vehicle according to delivery sequence.
- Navigate routes using provided technology and personal knowledge of the local area.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections, including proof of delivery.
- Provide exceptional customer service during every interaction, addressing inquiries and resolving issues professionally.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and government regulations.
- Handle packages with care, ensuring their integrity and security during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customer service teams regarding delivery statuses or potential delays.
- Manage cash on delivery (COD) transactions and ensure accurate handling of payments.
- Represent UPS with professionalism and integrity at all times.
Required Skills
- Full UK Driving Licence (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Previous experience in a driving role, preferably in a delivery capacity.
- Excellent knowledge of the Norwich area and surrounding regions.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg).
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using handheld scanning devices and delivery management software.
- Proven track record of safe driving and adherence to road regulations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced logistics or transportation environment.
