Waitrose & Partners in Kensington, London, is seeking a dedicated Delivery Assistant to provide vital support to our van delivery operations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Customer Delivery Drivers with the efficient and safe loading of groceries onto delivery vans, ensuring items are securely stored.
- Carefully unload orders at customer premises, ensuring all items are handled with care and delivered accurately.
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service at the point of delivery, addressing any customer queries politely.
- Help navigate routes, understand local area specifics, and assist in planning the most efficient delivery sequence.
- Conduct basic pre-delivery checks of the van and ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy throughout the day.
- Assist with problem-solving unforeseen issues during deliveries, such as access problems or unexpected delays.
- Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, company procedures, and food hygiene standards.
- Work collaboratively with the delivery team to ensure targets are met and customer satisfaction remains high.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 20kg) and perform physical tasks required for loading/unloading.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good attention to detail for checking orders and handling products.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- A full UK driving license with no more than 6 penalty points (preferred for future progression and potential van movement).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role or delivery/logistics environment.
- Familiarity with the Kensington and wider London area.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance or safety checks.
