Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory assessments to diagnose patient conditions and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized physiotherapy treatment plans based on evidence-based practice and patient-specific goals.
  • Administer a variety of therapeutic techniques including manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and hydrotherapy.
  • Educate patients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, and self-management strategies for long-term health.
  • Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care and seamless transitions between services.
  • Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and departmental meetings to contribute to patient care planning.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of physiotherapy advancements and participate in continuous professional development activities.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and professional ethical guidelines.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, students, or rehabilitation assistants as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) in Jamaica.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
  • Proficiency in conducting patient assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and professional ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized training or certifications in a particular area of physiotherapy (e.g., manual therapy, sports rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation).
  • Experience working in a public health system or a high-volume clinical environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
