Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine quality inspections and tests on incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established standards and specifications.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality control procedures, food safety standards (where applicable), and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Document and report quality control findings, non-conformances, and deviations accurately and promptly.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Collaborate with production and logistics teams to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in the development and revision of quality control procedures and specifications.
- Conduct sensory evaluations and physical tests on products as required.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and traceability of samples and finished products.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality control procedures and best practices.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the laboratory and production areas.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in Quality Control within a manufacturing, food processing, or port operations environment.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, HACCP, GMP).
- Proficiency in conducting various quality tests and using laboratory equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Ability to accurately document findings and generate comprehensive reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Food Science and Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Certification in Quality Management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements specific to products handled by Dangote Group (e.g., SON, NAFDAC standards).
- Previous experience working in a port or large-scale logistics environment.
