Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks to transport goods across designated routes within Nigeria.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all mechanical, safety, and operational components are in perfect working order.
- Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently, securing it properly to prevent any damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, national road safety regulations, and company driving policies at all times.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery records, fuel consumption reports, and all other necessary documentation.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, logistics managers, and customers regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and any unforeseen issues.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods to specified destinations, meeting agreed-upon deadlines.
- Report any accidents, incidents, vehicle malfunctions, or safety hazards immediately to the appropriate channels.
- Keep the truck clean, well-maintained, and regularly serviced.
- Represent Dangote Group professionally and courteously at all times while on duty.
Required Skills
- Valid Class E (or equivalent heavy-duty vehicle) driver's license with no endorsements.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial truck driving experience.
- Proven clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian traffic laws and road networks, particularly in the South-West region.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Excellent defensive driving skills and a strong commitment to road safety.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
- Physical stamina and endurance to handle long hours of driving and occasional manual labor.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade test certification in auto mechanics or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with modern tracking and navigation systems (GPS).
- Specific experience with diverse cargo types (e.g., bulk cement, bagged goods, liquid cargo).
- Possession of a valid First Aid and Safety certification.
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent.
